Perhaps O2 could be persuaded to also issue VAT invoices for the handset which now seems to have been separated out from the main bill. A week ago I requested a VAT invoice for the new handset obtained last month which now seems to be on a consumer credit agreement. However VAT is still to be accounted for even if you pay for the handset monthly.

Good question, I doubt you can declare the VAT until the phone is paid for, but I would need clarity on this.

That was my first thought too, but then again, I guess you are paying a percentage of the VAT element monthly, however, probably easier to claim it all at the end.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

As I understand it (and it's what Ive done in the past) is that with items on credit purchase plans you claim the VAT back initially since that is the VAT point (date). You then don't claim VAT back on the monthly payments. Where a merchant allows payment as part of a service i.e. part of the airtime bill, then VAT is accounted for monthly. However this is a big change for O2 since they have only just started treating handset purchases as credit agreement sales. Hope this clarifies.

Is there any progress on this yet? I've just spent 2 weeks both on live chat and today by phone trying to get a VAT invoice for a new handset supplied at the beginning of March. Every time they say they are sending one but it doesn't arrive. Looks like its going to miss my VAT return for this quarter which means I have to wait another 3 months to reclaim the VAT.
