Vat on advertised monthly charges

Anonymous
Not applicable
I have recently taken up the O2 advertised offer for a sim only contract
At £11per month and the first months bill is adding vat . Surely O2 have to show prices to consumers that include vat ?

Consumer taiffs always show vat included.

Your first bill differs however. There are two chargingg periods.

1. For thefirst few billing days before the account date is set up

2.Your first months bill paid in advance.

Therefore your first bill will be higher than normal but your second bill will show as your standard tariff. VAT is always shown on your bill as a legal requirement.

We get many new customers asking the same question - as jonsie says, it isn't VAT, just a pro-rata payment for the first 2 or 3 days of your contract.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks seems clearer now I have looked at it again. What also had me on the go was a letter from O2 this morning telling me the monthly cosy was £14 . After a call to O2 and a careful review of the website I found that the £11 had been £14 but that the welcome letters sent out a view days after sign up we're still showing £14.

All clear now
