Upgrade Scam?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi I have been called and Text several times now from a company called Buzz uzz O2? The text number looked like it came from O2 88802!

They are calling me about upgrading my phone are they contacted to do this by O2 or is it a scam?

I didn't give any information out when I got the first call and told them to email me - then I received a text asking me to text back and someone would call (as it looked like it was from O2 I text back) the caller then said they were Buzz uzz O2. I have a mobile number for them if it is a scam and you want to report this.

Thanks

Maria

Ignore them and do your own upgrade through the reputable channels.....
O2 online/shops, CPW etc.....

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Here is O2's official link on spam.

Also if you have call/text blocking facilities in your phone then perhaps add them to it.

I have had one of these calls  and they called saying they were reviewing my o2 account and did not mention the fact that they were buzz .  They knew all my account and tarrif details , How they got this information bothers me as they even have my billing address too.  So as they have all this detail do they also have access to my bank details ?  Why have o2 given them my account and tarrif details ?

Hi

They give access to trusted partners.

You can ask them to remove you from this by writing to Telefónica UK Limited
Correspondence Department

PO BOX 694

Winchester

SO23 5AP

and by changing the preferences in your Myo2

I do find it strange that it is necessary for the ACCOUNT HOLDER has to write in. Why won't a phone call suffice?

After all you can set up an account and terminate an account by phone so why not amend marketing preferences?

Writing in is probably "belt and braces".
I have only ever un-ticked everything in "My O2" and never been bothered.....

Log into "My O2" and go to "My Choices" in the left hand side box and un-tick anything you don't want.
