You can't set limits but you can download the My O2 app from your app store to monitor your usage.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

You can set a monthly price cap with Tesco contracts but not specifically a call limit, I believe.

If Tesco can do it I'm sure O2 could do the same.

Tesco's policy is aimed directly at Children using contracts taken by parents and O2 provide all the tools for a responsible adult to manage the account themselves.
If a minor is to be using the contract, I agree, Tesco would be a better choice if that was the customers preference.
Bear in mind though, there may be an occasion where a minor might need to contact an adult in an emergency and find themselves unable to in this situation.

No solution is going to please everyone as we know from this forum.

Very true, but if you're locked into a contract with O2, monitoring usage via the My O2 app is the only option.

That's why another option should be available.
