O2 Travel tariffs

I’m in France, I’ve just called O2 and spoken (for 20 mins at what cost I do not know) to an ignoramus who prefers to talk over people than actually listen to what they want. I have explained the message from O2 regarding O2 Travel how it states 50p connection then that call is free for up to one hour and how it is slightly unclear if that still stands when you choose not to use the data part of the deal. He eventually insisted the message is incorrect and tells me while I am in France that I am charged 50p connection then 25p / min to call UK. The info on the O2 website also clearly states 50p connection then that call is free for up to one hour but does not mention if that is only if I am paying £2 / day for the data part of the deal.

All I wanted to know is as the O2 travel deal is £2 for 15mb of data and I am not using data do I still get a 59 minute call for 50p and/or will I still be charged £2 per day on top of that if I am not using data?

 

They obviously don’t know what they’re selling at O2 so can anyone answer this?

 

I know it’s all a rip off… I just want to know how much I’m being ripped off for.

It does not matter if you use the data or not, (it's £1.99 per day for the deal if date is used)....
Also, redial after 59 mins to avoid charges.

As @MI5 says if you only use calls and have turned data off the call limit of 50 p applies on pay monthly up to the 60 min limit per cal if no data is used the 1.99 is not charged only if you use cell data is the £1.99 for 15 mb charged

I believe the 50p connection and up to one hour free is independent of data ie. you don't get charged £1.99 if you aren't using data and you still get the calls at the rate stated.

I confused myself when I read it back lol......
So, anyway, in summary, no need to use data to get the 50p for upto 1 hour calls, (just redial after 59 mins or else it's expensive) and any amount of data used (upto 15mb) will result in a £1.99 per day charge.
