O2 Open: We are sorry, but the mobile number you provided for a discount is a 3rd party connection and not eligible for O2 Open discount.

Bit lost as to why this hasn't worked? 😕

Did you purchase the phone from a third party? In other words, not directly through an O2 channel such as o2 store, over the phone or the O2 website? If so then unfortunately you are not eligible for the discount as the prerequisite to qualify for the partner discount is that the contract must be taken directly through an O2 channel.

Hi @Anonymous and Welcome to the forum.

Some information on the Open Code.

See if your eligible.

Faqs -> https://o2open.co.uk/O2Open/servlets/ShowFAQ

Link to request the Code -> https://o2open.co.uk/O2Open/servlets/SignUp

"If you already have your open code you text OPEN followed by your open code, mobile number, name and postcode to 2020" ....Credit to Wanty.

Terms & Conditions -> http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/rewards/o2-open-terms-and-conditions

If you meet the criteria then perhaps contact O2 Customer Service to get further official clarification and help.

Please let us know how you get on.

A real pity O2 didn't do this when I worked for the NHS...Though thinking about it, I was with Orange at the time wink

Is it a new connection? There are normally time limits that you have to apply within, even if you need the rest of the criteria (purchased direct from O2 etc)

The response from o2 in the opening post is clear.
3rd party contacts are not eligible unfortunately.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I have just taken out a new contract and was told the NHS discount code would work! I am an existing o2 refresh customer and work for the NHS.  I have tried the code and the text I received back was 'The mobile number I provided for a discount is a 3rd party connection and is not eligible for o2 Open discount??!!

I took the new contract out over the phone so do not understand what the problem is!

Anyone have any ideas please?

Thank you.
