Help info needed about tariffs

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi guys, I've been in O2 for years and always used my own handset and payg. I'm thinking of changing to this tariff I found. It states I will get 5gb-4g and unlimited texts and unlimited minutes. My question is, can anyone please tell me if the unlimited texts and minutes are to any network please? Or are they just to other O2 numbers as my payg sim has always been. Sick of having two phones on the go and want to get rid of my other contract which is really just to keep my credit limit up but it allows me to call any network with my minutes. I know this might sound like a stupid question to some of you but I just need to be sure before I buy into a 12 month contract or even the 30 day one. Thanks in advance guys for any help you can give me. It will probably take me until iPhones are out of fashion to find the replys as I'm not tech savvy at all!

Peace n love n all that jazz xoxo

Hi @Anonymous

The minutes included in the tariff can be used to other Uk mobile Networks ( I.e : cross network) and Uk landlines.

They can not be used to special numbers as described here http://www.o2.co.uk/help/everything-else/special-numbers but if a person uses this site http://www.saynoto0870.com ,and or the various apps available to convert the special number into one that comes out of their minutes.

You mention your in a contract, I'm assuming not on O2. If your not locked into a contract then ensure you give adequate notice to cancel ,and check if you can perhaps unlock the phone so it can be used on all networks.

If the Contract is on O2 then contact them on 202 ,and perhaps ask for that to be moved onto a Sim Only Contract Tariff you've seen.

Points to note :
On Sim Only contracts O2 will send you a 4G Nano SIM card with adapters so it fits into your model of phone.

4G data will only work on a 4G compatible phone.

4G is only in certain parts of the Uk right now ,but any 4G data allowance will work on 3G too.

Check to see if 4G is in your area.

iPhones are already out of fashion, so I guess you'll be reading this answer by now slight_smile
The tariff includes all STANDARD UK numbers starting with 01. 02. 03 and 07.
Normal SMS messages to those numbers are also included but not MMS (picture or media messages).
Also not in included are any numbers in the Channel Islands as these are classed as international calls.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

I believe the OP said they were Pay and Go at present and were looking to change to a contract.

I've always been on a sim only contract and in my opinion it's much the better option, allowing you to change your phone whenever you want and getting all the benefits of a full contract.

And is exactly the tariff I am on (except the data) and the one I want to continue with .

It was the one that actually convinced me to go onto contract and leave PAYG behind...

If you can afford to live without the subsidy for a new phone a long contract provides you, sim only is definitely the way to go. Unfortunately, some people don't have the means to buy a high tech phone outright, and are at the mercy of the networks locking them into a long term contract.

I would also go for sim only it works out cheaper in the end if you can afford to buy the handset outright
