My bank has issued a new debit card to me and it is linked to the same account. Do I need to update the direct debit details?

No​ not at all. As long as the sort code and account number stay the same you need do nothing.

Direct debits come straight off the account so new cards don't effect them.
It's only if you change bank accounts that you would need to change your DD details.
