Can't send or recieve picture messages since upgrade.

I'm using a Blackberry Q5 on a sim only contract with O2, I could send and receive picture messages fine with my last sim only contract with this phone, I upgraded for another 12 months sim only contract a couple of weeks ago and since then my phone won't send or receive picture messages, all the settings are correct I've even contacted O2 and they say everything is fine their end and they don't understand why it won't send messages now, anyone have any ideas?

Seems strange that on the other contract the phone was ok with MMS but now it won't send or receive, when I try to send I just get a "general problems" error message.

Thanks in advance.

Appreciate what Live Chat have done but I would still recommend you phone O2 on 202 and ask them to ReProvision your account for MMS.

From my link earlier.....
Swipe left-to-right across the screen to access the Hub
Tap Menu (3 dots)
Tap Settings
Tap Text Messages
Tap Advanced
Scroll down past the SMS Settings
Enter the following settings into the onscreen form, without changing any other settings;
APN Settings:
APN - mobile.o2.co.uk (PAYG - payandgo.o2.co.uk)
Username - o2web (PAYG - payandgo)
Password - password
MMSC Settings:
MMSC URL - http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Proxy URL - 82.132.254.1:8080
(The image below right shows blue text in the fields you should have completed)

Hi Di

It may be worth asking them to "re provision" your account for MMS.

have a check on your APNs.

http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/o2-apn-settings

Try texting ACTIVE to 2020, save settings and re boot the phone.

I assume your connected ok to the O2 data network.

I can access the internet ok from my browser, I've never had a problem with that, I did the live chat with O2 and they said all settings seemed ok, it was set up to use wap and mms but he would email me internet settings anyway, I did what the email said (both methods as the first did not work) but hope still won't send or receive, still get the general problem message after it tries to send for about 5 minutes.

The settings I have are

Mobile settings....

APN:- mobile.o2.co.uk
User name:- o2web
Password:- password
Authentication type:- PAP

MMS settings are..
APN:- wap.o2.co.uk
Username:- o2wap
Password:- password

MMSC URL:- http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Proxy URL:- 82.132.254.1:8080
Proxy username and password are empty.

I assume all those are right, it's what O2 gave me.

Thanks for your help

You're welcome.

Fingers crossed.

Have a look at the settings I pasted to the ones you did to highlight any differences.

If you are using the same SIM and phone and the only thing that has changed is your contract then this is clearly a provisioning matter.

Try turning the phone off and back on or toggle Flight Mode to make the phone re-register on the network

Otherwise why not use BBM - you don't have to pay for sending pictures then. wink

The settings in the Z30 I have are as per your post above: (Contract SIM)

MMS settings are..
APN:- wap.o2.co.uk
Username:- o2wap
Password:- password

MMSC URL:- http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Proxy URL:- 82.132.254.1:8080
Proxy username and password are empty.

Hiya, I spoke to O2 again today, explained the situation and asked them to reprovison my MMS, he asked me to do what I'd already done regards restoring the settings, checking all the settings were correct, had me turn my wifi off and try to connect to the Internet, which I could, asked me to clean my sim etc, he decided in the end that it was my data bolt on which was wrong, he said I had a blackberry 7 data bolt on which I didn't need with my Q5 and that's why I couldn't send pictures, he's put for the blackberry 7 data bolt on to be removed at midnight and a different data bolt on to be added and then he says I should be able to send messages! I guess i'll find out tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Thanks for your help everyone, your all great x
