Abroad & can't text

Hi there. I'm on holiday in St. Lucia & have discovered I can't send texts to anyone. I've been abroad before & never had this issue. I have tried replacing the '0' at the start of the number with +44 but still no joy. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Andy. (I've an iPhone 4)

Most likely due to the local network you are connected to.
Try a manual nerwork search and choose a different one.
There are a few countries that have similar issues.
Are calls and data services working ok for you?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks for this. I've searched for other networks & found C&W which I can connect to. With them I can use data but still can't text. A few other random networks pop up in a search but disappear when I try to connect...

As @MI5  says, it is probably a network problem. However I find when abroad I always text from my

phonebook or contacts list. If I try to text by manually inputting the number, it fails every time.

If you can use your data (or WiFi) how about using Whatsapp to to text (only if the other person you are texting has Whatsapp, but it's an idea)?

Many thanks to you both for your suggestions. I'm much obliged. Ordinarily I wouldn't be bothered about being "cut off" from the grid for a few days, but my only concern is if there is an emergency at home. Thanks again
