It would appear so.....

I'm sure it's still being rolled out, but the other O2 Wi-Fi hotspots should be working as normal.

I find it completely unacceptable that I cannot 'forget' the WiFi Extra network from my HTC One M8 device.

While I appreciate what they are trying to do, the infrastructure isn't good enough to support this, and personally, is only serving to dispute Virgin Media WiFi on London Underground during my commute.

You could always try calling CS and ask if you can be un-registered from the service.

Can't you pick the virgin connection to take preference over the o2 WiFi. I have been able to do this on my windows phone. Might be a limitation of the phone as to a problem with O2.

So assume it's not as simple as switching WiFi signals. Can't be disabled by the phone?

Ah, this seems great in theory, but not in practice by the looks of it. I've had o2 WiFi issue but that's because the phone knows ths network and links to it when I'm in town. Easy fix for me, removed it as an authorised connection.
