Non payment for recycled phone

In mid December i recycled my old mobile through o2 recyling. On 20th December I had an e-mail saying £44.25 had been sent to my account. This has not been received. Non of my e-mails have been answered and the promise made by Ann Marie to ring me back (a week last Thursday) on the following day has not materialised. A phone call today would not be accepted (high volumes etc.) In short they took my phone and have not paid me for it. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did they sort it out. I have two ideas in mind. 1. Trading Standards. 2. Small Claims Court. It just beggars belief that a company of this size should treat me this way. (or perhaps it dosen't. Mike424

Under the advice of Trading Standards I issued an ultimatum under the Law of Contract recorded delivery to the Head Office with copy to parent company. I received a phone call within 2 days and the money was paid into my account the same day plus an extra £13 to cover my costs plus an apology. The original payment was returned by my bank because the payment bore the wrong account number. I don't know whose fault this was but responding to my first e-mail instead of ignoring that and three more attempts to communicate would have sorted out the problem in the same time it took the Head Office i.e.2 days. Thanks for all comments

http://www.o2recycle.co.uk/terms.aspx is the full T&C for the service I note it is not run by o2 But a company called redeem

 

who have you called redeem (o2recycle) or normal o2 customer services?

Maybe they are working through the phone to see if there are any problems & may knock a bit off the price but it can take up to 2 weeks. I recently took in an old 3GS to O2 recycle on New Year's Eve, they quoted me £41 but I received a text 10 days later staying they were knocking £4 off as the home button was not working. Two days later I received my cheque

I would put a formal complaint by email to them giving them a set timescale to respond

Thanks for replies. i have sent formal e-mail complaint 7 days ago. o2 origianally e-mailed that payment was being sent 20/12/2102 to bank. not received by bank or credited to o2 account. As mentioned all e-mails have been ignored and phone calls have not been acted on. I think I will now have to take up my option 1 and, if necessary 2.

Even though it is not run by o2 it is a sevice they promote perhaps a formal complaint direct to o2 may help get it resolved search complain on the support pages and submit an email formal complaint with all your copy emails etc.
