Problems

Have started using the dongle on a new laptop and it seems to be connecting through cellular connection (as opposed to previously directly through the O2 manager) which then stops working after variable lengths of time. Sometimes every couple of minutes. Though it looks as if I am still connected the internet stops responding. I have tried the patch but still problematic. How can I fix this?
Thanks

I'm having a very similar problem to you (Huawei E169), though it seems to occur when I leave the cellular connection connected, but idle. Never seems to happen if I am actively using the connection (browsing, downloading etc.) It looks like it's connected, but not actually connected to the internet. When I try to reconnect, I get the failed to connect to network message, even with full reception. Once it goes in this state, even rebooting the PC doesn't fix the issue. After a while though, reconnecting is possible.

Never had problem like this till recently (a month or so ago). The laptop I use it on is just for emails & browsing and apart from MS patches, nothing new installed. Also tried the latest O2 connection manager I could download, still the same problem.

Fixed

I found the fix yesterday (after a week of trying). Apparently it is to do with an incompatibility with windows 7. Here are the instructions below. I didn't have the download they mentioned but basically worked fine once the O2 manager was taken out and then runs perfectly through the cellular profile. Just have to remember to to reinstall when I put the dongle in.

Hope this helps

Re: Help with issues using O2 Connection Manager

I think it's a bit disingenuous of Sharon (from O2) to say "we've found a problem".
O2 found this problem a year ago, when it occurred on 1st January 2010. They have had a whole year to fix it. But they seem to have done nothing, and it has happened again.
O2 know all the users' email addresses. They could have emailed us at any time in the last year, telling us how to deal with problem if it occurs. But they haven't done that either. They just left us all to fall into the same elephant trap that we all fell into last year. I think that is poor customer care.
This is a classic "date" problem, of the type that has hit the Apple iPhone in the last few days.
Can Sharon tell us, please, whether O2 have any plans to fix the software before January 2012 comes around?

Re: Help with issues using O2 Connection Manager

I am having this problem and I can't get online to use that patch because weirdly, the o2 connection manager is the only internet on my laptop..
How can I fix this?

Re: Help with issues using O2 Connection Manager

Phone 02 with your connection manager problem, the technical guy will guide you through the process of delating the files, it takes only a few minutes. There are two files that need delating, reboot & it will work after that.

Re: Help with issues using O2 Connection Manager

I assume this is still a thread for "connecton manager" problems.
I have just bought an ASUS netbook with windows 7 and an O2 dongle.
When installed the dongle appears to connect correctly to the GPRS network but then to get on doing its own thing transferring data at a reasonable rate but doing nothing useful and effectively preventing any useful internet connection.
I have transferred about 2mb. of data but seen just 2 simple webpages.
I have stopped everything that I can think of that might be transferring data (automatic updates etc.) but the transfer persists as long as the dongle is connected.
Any suggestions as to what is happening and how to correct the problem ?
