Is it true o2 will send an ad to your mobile every time you are in the wifi zone thru your mobile number?

I get O2 wifi within 50 yards at the Bolton store. Never received any ads at all so not sure where you heard that from?

Read it on a website Stevy, cant remember which now it was a few months ago, but the pop up mentioned on the post above was in the same story. Guess they didn't go with either option in the end.
How are o2 going to charge other network users for this? Would be better if was just for o2 customers in my opinion.

I think we can safely assume that it will be supported by advertising at some stage, and the new registration system may not be working yet.

I'm not really bothered by any advertising. We're bombarded by advertising everywhere we look. As long as the system works I will be happy.

Don't get your hopes up.
Just returned from my local shopping centre where there's an O2 store but try as I might, even standing inside the store, I couldn't find the O2 SSID even though the hotspot locator says it's broadcasting a signal.
As there was only one store assistant with a queue of 6 customers I didn't bother to hang around
