HUAWEI E160 on UBUNTU

I am trying to get my O2 mobile dongle to work on UBUNTU (latest version 12.04) so far without any success. My dongle is based on the HUAWEI E160. It works under windows XP (although 3G cover age is very poor usually only GPRS in most locations) so the device is functional but UBUNTU ignores it. What parameters should I enter (APN, Password, Username, Dialup number) in order to get it to work? Any help appreciated.

Re: HUAWEI E160 on UBUNTU

This how I did it for an E220

Click on the network icon at the top right of the screen
2) Go down to Edit Connections....
3) Click on Mobile Broadband
4) Click Add

You should see a setup dialogue with the option to use HUAWEI Technology HUAWEI Mobile. Follow the instructions in this setup remembering to double check the information you select such as your provider, as you said it is o2 and the type of plan you have wither pay as you go or contract etc.

Once you have done this click save.

To contact O2 click "Contact us" at the bottom of any O2 page, and click the service you need, or wait for "Live Chat" to appear.
