early adopters now ending their 18 month contracts

if, like me, you were suckered into getting a pre on an 18 month contract at the beginning then you'll be nearing the end of the contract in March/April.
+ Has anyone had any luck getting a new upgrade yet? (except iPhone 4)
+ has anyone managed to get an unlock code from o2 yet? (to make the pre easier to sell!)
Due to the painful experience I've had with o2 over the last 15 months of being locked into such a long contract with no way out, and palm pre hardware that basically didn't work; has anyone tried changing plans so that they can just buy unlocked phones direct from places like expansys and then not pay as much per month? (it's probably cheaper)

You don't need to do anything in regards to changing your plan for unlocked phones. Simply remove the sim and replace in phone of your choice! Just remember when your term is up, swap to Simplicity for smart phones.

Re: early adopters now ending their 18 month contracts

I can upgrade with O2 next month but I won't be.
My Pre is a good little phone but there are too many little niggles for me to either keep it or move on to another Palm product.
I think I will move to Android with HTC Desire HD being top of the current list. Unfortunatley O2 don't offer this handset so I will be moving away from O2.
I enjoyed the Palm Pre and have been an advocate to all my i-phone friends but I'm not sure it will last another three months so I will be off to new phone pastures.

Re: early adopters now ending their 18 month contracts

i think i can upgrade mine next month as well but im not sure i will be. i had major problems with this phone mostly caused by major problems with o2 customer service. or lack of it.
i do like my pre i like the touch screen and keyboard aspect of it which makes me think i wont ever get an iphone
ive seen the blackberry torch which i like the look of does anyone know anything about them?
o2 definately isnt as customer focused as it used to be plus the contract i landed myself in on this phone is pathetic when u actually look at it! i wont be as hasty again!

I need to cheapen my plan £36 is way too much, I like my little flip-out keyboard. I don't fancy an iphone or blackberry, the o2 I chatted with says they dont offer the palm. Suggestions? I don't fancy a touch screen keypad tbh.
