Hello,

I have  Nokia Lumia 610 running WP7.8 on O2 PayAndGo.

In the last week I have been unable to send or receive texts.

Can anyone suggest what the problem may be?

John

Well to be fair John did say the checked when they were first posted...and they were correct...I doubt he thought he needed to look again with everything else he has been trying. It does seem strange that two of the setting boxes were blank at the second time of checking?

Point is the weren't correct if info was missing from them.
6 pages later and we find an issue which was ruled out on page 1

I wont argue...It wasn't how I read it...However it appears to be sorted now and that's all that matters..Rolleys

Well, looks like it doesn't matter anyway, as this morning the phone is not sending or receiving texts!

The settings had remained in place, but I tried removing and re-entering them ... but no luck.

I guess if it was that easy, all the rest of the people would have found the fix too.

Hi again,

This morning I switched on "Data Connection" (normally I just use WiFi) and suddenly all the trial texts that I'd sent to myself and my wife came through ... about 40 of them!

And now I can send and receive texts ... it's been okay for about 4 hours now.

So, do I need "Data Connection" to be switched on permamnently for SMS to work?

You shouldn't have to as long as you have a good network connection. Personally I have it on all the time even when connected to wifi.

No you don't. Text send over the mobile (GSM) system.
The only requirement for data is an MMS (Multimedia or picture message).
