Samsung no longer supporting Android on Galaxy

Hi all, is anyone here in the same boat?

Had my Samsung i7500 now for around 2 months, signed up for an 18 month contract. I've now been told that samsung will not support the i7500 past Android v1.5.
I feel as if I have been lied to. I'm now left with a phone with a high spec camera with #### camera software, inoperable 3d graphics, none but basic bluetooth support, poor power handing, and I also hear every other manufacturer promising to provide updates to Android v2.0.

I think Samsung have really let their customers down, and O2 should be pressing them to support the upgrades that we all expected when buying an android based phone on an 18 month deal.

Samsung no longer supporting Android on Galaxy

I feel like I've been beta testing this thing for samsung for the last 3 months. I have had it back to have the firmware updated three times now as I can't do it from my pc. I still have poor battery and the hardware 3d support just *DOESN'T EXIST* (does this not violate the sale of goods act?)
Now I find out that the T-Mobile G1 which is now nearly 2 years old will be the first non 'droid' phone support Android 2.0 in the early new year, and that samsung aren't going to bother to support a 3 month old 'flagship' device.

Poor, poor, poor.

Will O2 UK stand by their customers and press Samsung for a formal statement on the matter?

I doubt they will be selling very many more when the news gets out.

Obviously that is really frustrating and it is an O2 exclusive phone but you can't really blame O2 for Samsung deciding not to support it. On top of that, did you buy the phone on the promise of an update to 2.0? If not then I guess Samsung don't have to update it, annoying as it is.

Very disappointing indeed

I'm actually happy with the phone, it has the latest firmware on it, and it works well. However, I have voted for the 'lemon' option in this vote, as I was fully expecting Android updates as a matter of course. If the phone was more than a year or two old, then ok, I would expect Samsung/O2 to deprecate their support for it, but I've had it for a week, and it's only been in the shop for a month or two... It will be interesting to see how long networks will stand behind phones such as the moto droid.. Will they support upgrades for any length of time ? The ironic thing is that it is surely in the networks interest to provide updates to existing handsets, especially for those on contract.
