I thought you had to pay to get POP on Hotmail
To contact O2 click "Contact us" at the bottom of any O2 page, and click the service you need, or wait for "Live Chat" to appear.

POP3 Settings for ISP's

This has nothing to do with O2 email settings, well not directly.

The image of the table with all the email settings is awful to look at, so, can I make a suggestion? screen grab it again but save as a gif file it will be much clearer and sharper. Also pull back a bit on the border size.
A good program to use for screen grabs is Faststone Capture: http://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm this version isn't free but look for version 5.3 this was the last version to be free.

lesson: jpgs are for photos and graduated colour, gifs are for blocks of colour. As a double bonus, your image should actually be smaller using gif, than using jpg.

email settings for ukgateway.net

Hi

Have just set up my email on my new LG cookie which is on o2 PAYG. Had to use mail.o2.co.uk as my outgoing server. Ukgateway.net is part of Tiscali now. You have the incoming details Ok in your list.

Hope this may help someone.

POP3 Settings for ISP's

I've found that I can use my ISP's IMAP details and login to check/receive emails.
My ISP however has a block on just anybody using their SMTP server for outgoing email. You need to actually be on one of their ADSL connections to use it.
The get-around was to put the O2 SMTP details in my phone, using the O2.co.uk login as the authentication.

E-mail address: The email address your ISP has given you.
Name: The name your parents gave you. :smileyhappy:
Incoming mail server: The POP3 or IMAP server for your ISP.
Username: Your ISP email login name.
Password: Your ISP email login password.
Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: mail.o2.co.uk
(Make sure that server authentication is checked/enabled/ticked)
Username: your_login_name@o2.co.uk
Password: Your O2 login password.

I found that this combination works well. I can check my emails as they come in, and I can send/reply to emails as necessary.

POP3 Settings for ISP's

Hi , I posted this as a stand alone post yeterday but have had no replies so trying it here...
Hi,
I have just changed over to o2 after many years with T-mobile. I have a gmail email account and I have certain emails filtered there that are forwarded to my mobile phone. Can anyone tell me the address I need to put in my gmail filter? i.e. when I was with T-Mobile it was (my number)@t-mobile.uk.net
Any help appreciated..tnx
OTR

I should perhaps clarify that I dont want or need to read the email on my phone...just as with T-mobile..I need the gmail filter to send me an sms message with the message in it.
tnx

Re: Thanks Gasboy

So it's pop.orange.com and smtp.orange.com for the incoming and outgoing server addresses now for freeserve.co.uk, fsnet.co.uk, etc?

pop.orangehome.co.uk and smtp.orangehome.co.uk :smileyhappy:

I have tried the above settings on my new iphone and at first incoming mail was ok but outgoing mail failed each time. Now I can get mail coming in but it wont download the message from the server and the outgoing mail is still failing :smileysad: Anyone else with Orange wireless broadband out there that can help plz?

Email to SE K850i

Hi

I have just set up to receive my Supanet email to my mobile as I had previously done with an SE K800i on an Orange contract. Alas, the same problem - whilst I am able to receive emails, I cannot send them! O2 CS very helpful but I am inclined to think that with all the settings in place, it may be a problem with the mobile. I would be grateful for any ideas on this, please.

Unlike Orange, o2 does not send email text alerts, unless you have o2 broadband, so that you cannot chose whether an email is important enough or urgent enough to warrant downloading to your mobile. Maybe this is a service which will be provided in the future? :smileyhappy:
