So how are we supposed to connect to openzone when there is o contract to do so.

Re: No longer Cloud

Tried again today to connect to BT Openzone. Failed. Called in local O2 shop told again that message does not necessarily apply to me!!
As I use Cloud a lot it looks like I may be worse off; doubt that a reduction in my tariff will be forthcoming?

Re: No longer Cloud

What I have noticed is that Openzone only seems to recognise certain phones as being O2. Was the N8 an O2 phone?
I've had a couple of Android phones that would not connect (both models that were not done by O2) Using the Dolphin browser and fooling Openzone into believing they were iPhones did the trick in getting them registered.
To contact O2 click "Contact us" at the bottom of any O2 page, and click the service you need, or wait for "Live Chat" to appear.

Re: No longer Cloud

This may or may not help, however when ever you switch sims in new phones, you have to reset the wifi system at o2 end.
send a sms with the word "wifi" to 2121
This will reset o2 wifi system to the phone your sim your current in.
However the reset can take up to a hour
Im not saying it will work, but its worth a try.
Please be aware that you need to only do it once, unless you place the sim in another mobile phone with wifi, which therefore you will have to do this again.
I hope this helps.

Should work then. Does the browser have any way to change the user agent to something else? Or is there something available that will do just that on say GetJar?

Re: No longer Cloud

[ Edited ]
most cloud sites are free anyway (paid for by the company)
All pubs, food places that advertise free wifi (provided by thecloud) will still be free. It is the non free cloud sites that we nolonger get access to.
So mcdonalds will still be free etc http://bit.ly/vuNF1F says somme may charge you but if a venue advertises free wifi then we should be ok after reregistering with the cloud at those free venues
http://www.thecloud.net/Support/Product ... ained.aspx says
You will still need to purchase a Cloud product to access The Cloud network, unless you are using Free Venues.
in the fast connect section
http://www.thecloud.net/Support/Product ... 5585D&_z=z also says to register for free to use

Cloud one-time registration and Cloud account
All users need to create a Cloud account before they can get Wi-Fi access at our hotspots as this is a legal requirement. To do this users need to go through a simple one page registration process.Registration is free and should take you about 2 minutes. Once your account is created you can surf for free at many of our venues or you can purchase one of our subscriptions to access the whole Cloud network

Re: No longer Cloud

you're still getting unlimited use of BT Openzone which if you were to buy directly from BT would cost £15 per month with an 18 month contract or £39 per month for 30 days.

For anyone reading this, I think it's important to note that the number of BT Openzone hotspots that you can connect to for free as part of your o2 plan is severely limited!
I live in the Birmingham area and in the two years I've had an o2 plan with "unlimited wifi" I have only ever been able to connect to the BT Openzone hotspots directly in Birmingham city centre (and one of those never allows me to connect, instead always displaying an error message).
With Cloud access going in February the unlimited wifi promotion is looking more and more pointless. Fair enough if they've partnered with Tesco (I didn't know this) but who desperately needs to use wifi when they're in a supermarket?!

Re: No longer Cloud

When I had an iPhone on O2 I was able to connect to btopezone at star bucks. Now on my n8 at the same Starbucks I get the page where I select O2 and add my phone number and the page just hangs.
