Mobile keeps freezing, HTC HD7 Windows from 2011

My smartphone has started freezing every day and I have to remove and reinsert the battery, because none of the buttons or the touchscreen will respond. It often seizes and stays permanently lit up rather than the screen going off after 30 seconds. Sometimes I can't answer and it keeps ringing even after the caller has given up. Sometimes it rings and the screen won't respond even though I can take the call. Or I hear a text come in, it lights up, but the touchscreen won't swipe open. Is it to do with charging or battery problems? I rang o2 for a replacement sim but it didn't come so I rang again today and they said the system would not allow the order, although I am pay monthly and have been since the 1990s with the same number, always on o2. I've tried different chargers and batteries, and restored settings. Thank you. Phil

How long have you had the phone and did you buy it from O2 @Anonymous?

You will need to try a factory reset. Its an old phone and no longer getting bug fixes. We are now on windows 10. Personally, I would drop the £60 and get the lumia 640 on windows 8. Its a great phone and will perform much better than your HD7

Many people with the same issue on the HTC forums...A factory reset is suggested to see if it improves

I'm amazed it's still working at all after 4 or 5 years.
Time for an upgrade wink

Yes, I got it from the o2 shop in January 2011.

Thank you. I have tried that. It is getting worse. If I can't fix it with a new sim or help from the forum, I will replace it.

You can test other phone functions by removing the sim from the phone.
If it is the sim causing the problems, other non call related stuff should then work OK.
