Lumia 930 - Strange data issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

Both me and another member of my family upgraded to the Lumia 930 last week, however, for some reason data doesn't always work. It's fine on 4G, hit and miss on H+, and anything less and it doesn't connect.

The service status doesn't report any issues, and I can only assume the data settings are correct or it wouldn't work at all?

Any help would greatly appreciated slight_smile

Hi @Anonymous and Welcome to the Forum

If you wish to check your Apn Settings for peace of mind then here they are http://goo.gl/xkWYft

If you feel the phone is at fault then you can either swap out the handset at O2 if it's under 14 days ref their faulty handset returns policy http://goo.gl/19fpDd ,or if it's over have a Nokia Care Point look it over. Some Carphone Warehouses have them in-store.

Nokia Care Points http://goo.gl/JflWTB

Could you connect to o2 data with a previous phone Ok ?

Do others experience this in your area ?

Are you in the most recent firmware available for your phone ?

If this is mast congestion then unfortunately their isn't much you can do.

Download the MYNETWORK App to report the masts.

Sounds like normal current O2 data network performance 😞

What software version are you running as Nokia has slipped a little update out this week to fix a couple of bugs in Lumia 930's.

Version xxxxx.xxxx.14252.51003 is currently the latest.

Thanks for the APN settings, I'll give them a try slight_smile

Phone seems to be up to date, and another family member has a 930 too that's doing the same...

Both phones seems to sit on H, then connect to H+ as soon as they try and go online, so I'm assuming either O2 round here or an update is needed.

I'll have a look at the My Network app, and apparently it seems O2 are doing maintenance around here tomorrow, so fingers crossed...

H+ is faster than H when the network is running correctly.

If you have 4g in your area then suggest you use that.

3g across the country is suffering from transmission capacity issues so it is likely your phone is fine and that your mast is congested on 3g.

If your phone is on H and then when you try to use it is locks on to H+ it is doing things correctly. H+ is also commonly known as 3.9g, an enhanced data service that increases speeds to up to 9mbs however if there isn't the capacity then you may find (as you are) that your requests for data connecting are hit by a bottleneck.
