Try sending a text to 2020 saying "active" or check your apn manually against those listed here http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/o2-apn-settings
Also make sure you have mobile data enabled.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Thanks for the quick responses, I wasn't expecting that!

I have a Nokia Lumia 530. I have access from a Wifi connection at home but when I turn my router off I lose access. I do not have Wifi Sense On. My mobile + SIM settings say that my Data Connection is on. My roaming options are set at 'don't roam' and it is set to use mobile data when limited wifi connectivity.

I am new to smartphones and can't figure it out!

I have tried texting 2020 but reply says O2 had problems dealing with request for settings and call a number which I have called but is no longer in use. Customer services is shut. I can try tomorrow but thought I would give you guys a try.

I am sorry MI5 but I have tried your link and the first thing it tells me to do is to go to the Menu and then to Configurations and I can't work out how to do this!!!

Jonsie and Klioriff - I have tried your recommended site. I literally put the 'password' in for the password, I hope that's correct?!!! I am going to turn my router off now and see if it works. I will let you know.......
