Unless you have been in a news free zone for 24 hrs it wont have gone unnoticed that Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended...

Allegedly he punched a producer....

Sundays episode has been shelved along with the remaining two in the Top Gear series..

Clarksons suspension has led to a massive petition for his reinstatement.

Personally, I wonder why so many want him back? Surely this massively popular show can survive without him? (Stands back ready to be panned for that comment Fear)

Maybe this 'hero worship' of Clarkson is a 'man thing'? (apologies if that appears sexist Rolleys)

I don't particularly like him. I think he arrogantly believes he is invincible....Drum

Sacked.

That was always going to be the case. The BBC were left with no alternative and as I said before, it was always a predetermined outcome.

Just seen it on the news as well......I am not at all surprised. However much people 'love' Clarkson in Top Gear....they had to make an example of him....otherwise they would have been condoning violence.

This is what got me, the way the victim in this has been attacked and threatened in the social media and people think it's ok.

And there is the voice of reason. Thanks @perksie .....

I have never been able to stand the man. He is arrogant and thought he was invincible.

If anyone else, in any other walk of life punched a work colleague hard enough to require hospital treatment, we all would be saying he should be sacked at least and face prosecution.

Because millions love this show, they thought it was outrageous to even consider terminating his employment.

I despair at that sort of mentality. The BBC made absolutely the right decision

Of course this is still being discussed on the news. Chris Evans was asked by media if he was interested. Seen to reply on camera with an emphatic NO...

I didn't know that Clarkson sold his shares of Top Gear back to the BBC in 2012 for £8 million...(so he isn't going to starve anytime soon)..

Speculation also that BBC would use a completely new format without other presenters for 2016

I can't honestly comment @perksie  I can't claim to be a fan of the show.

Probably a sexist comment when I go on to say, every bloke I know loves Top Gear, though none of my female friends like it at all wink

For some people Clarkson IS Top Gear, so I think any replacement for him has a thankless task ahead of them....

I'm not fussed whether I see it or not, it's too formulaic for me, I got fed up very soon watching JC tear round a track in some "supercar" each week, some of the trials were fun, but again all done to a formula, which was easy to see.
