Headline : Future iPhones to fire laser beams.

Excerpt from the Link "From rotating 'midair' phones to firing laser beams, a look at patents from Apple are enough to make you feel that future iPhones will not look out of place in James Bond's arsenal of impossibly futuristic gizmos.

Apple has won a patent on a unique laser beam mapping technology on December 4th from the USPTO.

Believed to have been invented for use in future iPhones and other devices, the new technology uses a laser sensor and a laser beam to measure shapes, distances, volume and attributes of environmental objects inside a room."

My thoughts :

Apple thinking different.  😉

Hasn't laser gauging been available on jcb handsets for a while. Maybe not as a software operated utility however why would joe public need this on a phone. Unless you need accurate referencing, it's a bit gimicky.

"as well as monitoring real-time traffic".

Or keep tabs on any iPhone users, a needless data collection? I read the article and to be fair, it's innovative however as always why has Apple got patent every god damn thing and make it exclusive to themselves everytime.

That's only an issue in the rare occasions that they patent something useful......

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
