Does anybody know where the Easter Egg came from?

We all know that Easter is a Christian tradition, but who created the Easter Egg?  Is it supposed to symbolize something?

P.S. what's your favourite egg? I like the Cadbury Buttons eggs.....yum yum

When I was in school we started the era of the white marker boards rather than the black boards.  Now most school have interactive boards.  I wonder how long it will be before we have no staff in schools and just holographic teachers lol
