Wifes phone, so was used as and when required (with no thought to the cost as she don't pay it ;))

No...what would have been easier would have been to drop her phone in the pool and shake your head in horror. On second thoughts that would have incurred the cost of a new phone...so yeah pay the damn bill

Two weeks, two phones....can't grumble about that. I bet a round and a bite to eat would have cost more than that in the local brasserie would have cost more.
