Headline : Mobile networks to invest £5bn to boost signal across UK

Excerpt from the link "A £5 billion deal to improve mobile phone coverage in UK 'not-spots' has been struck between the government and all four mobile phone firms.

The binding agreement will force EE, O2, Three and Vodafone to boost signal in areas which currently have partial coverage from some, but not all, of the networks."

"The companies have agreed to collectively invest the £5bn to improve infrastructure by 2017, and to guarantee voice and text coverage from all operators in 90 per cent of areas across the UK."

O2 have already promised via The very best network. That's our aim.

My thoughts :

Any news on investment in Network coverage is good !

Only a few weeks ago the mobile operators said they were spending £5bn on networks through to 2017 i.e. network modernisation programme.

So the BIG question is thus IS THIS NEW MONEY OR IS IT THE EXISTING POT REHASHED?

The CONservatives and Network Providers seem at ease dreaming up these megabillion amounts that they intend to spend.........who actually audits the claims to substantiate them ?
