Arrived today.....it wasn't expected until earliest Tuesday on free delivery so well done Amazon !!

I'm guessing Mobdro, although showing in the apps, needs to be updated as it won't load any channels.

What's the best/correct way...D/L to memory stick on computer then upload to M9S or is there a way of D/L direct to M9S ?

TBH with the channel I am watching I am not surprised. It is probably rather popular.

@gmarkj

I've not tried any film streams so I'll do that before commenting but all other stuff eg all Sky channels and some Spanish sports channels are good but certainly not as perfect as the Freeview channels.

But I didn't expect perfection via my 10Mbps broadband connection.

The experts reckon you can't view 4k on anything less than a decent fibre connection but most of the 4k on Youtube comes through perfectly on my 10Mbps, although I'll need to see what a 4k off Netflix is like.

Do you think it is speed related then rather than the feed/stream you are watching?
If yes, then maybe this could still be feasible, but if not then I will have to rethink the plan of using this to replace a TiVo box...

I'm not sure, it's only what I've read....as regards 4k that is.
If you look at anything internet-related, some heavy-graphics websites load slower than others so I guess the same will happen with some streams......perhaps compression plays a big part ?

I suppose the best way to see is to get one and try it on both the upstairs and downstairs TVs (down is 40ish and up is 32 so both big enough for quality to be an issue).

Edited to add:

The ones that are on the list are:

M9S as discussed - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01DK1I0MK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2FTYPAAWL6LIH&c...

Xgody with similar spec - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01JG3XE0E/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2FTYPAAWL6LIH&c...

Amlogic again similar - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01IOX8970/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2FTYPAAWL6LIH&c...

Any comments/opinions on them?

Don't be misled into thinking it will give you anywhere near the quality and performance of a TiVo or Sky box, it won't.
It's ideal usage is for an occasional use TV such as a bedroom or for the likes of Cleoriff and myself at our holiday homes when watching TV isn't a main priority.

^^ and that is the issue - talking to people I work with I had the impression that you could do this.
If that is the case then potentially it could be used upstairs on the TV there. But for downstairs it sounds as if we are stuck with the (increasingly) expensive Virgin TiVo...

For me, the quality and functionality just isn't good enough - It might be on expensive set ups but not on my £25 box tongue

I think you can only try it on your set up. If you think that £50 is not worth the experiment then don't do it.

It's like receiving terrestrial TV signals, it depends on where you are in relation to the transmitter mast, whether your aerial is external, in the loft or on top the TV, the quality of the co-ax etc etc
