Central and Victoria Lines to start, with three more to follow in the autumn. New York City Subway System has been 24/7 since 1904, so I'd say it's about time it started in London.

I only visit London a few times a year, but I actually prefer the bus nowadays, and they already have a 24 hour service on a lot of routes. The tube is convenient if you're pressed for time, especially during rush hour, but it's an awful way to travel in my opinion. The bus on the other hand is much more civilised, and cheaper too.

Well New York is the city that never sleeps and maybe the London Underground hasn't needed the 24 hour service that it is now getting. However, London is now so cosmopolitan and diverse, it is strange that only now they feel there is a need but I'm sure commuters will welcome it

The service at the outset is only going to be 24 hours on the weekends, so it will mainly benefit restaurants, pubs, and clubbers, but I'm certain it will extended to weekdays if it's successful. I've had many a night in the past where the evening had to end abrubtly in order to catch the last train home. This will be welcomed by many Londoners.

Good to hear for those who need it. Mind you I dislike the underground during the day...so very much doubt I would use it at night....

Nice video (and soundtrack)  slight_smile

The last time I travelled on a tube was on a Sunday, and I couldn't believe how manic it was. Packed in like sardines we were, and struggling to get off the train as more passengers kept piling in, before the sliding doors shut again. It seems that overloaded carriages don't present any health and safety hazards  Smiley Indifferent.

That's why I prefer the bus. And no werewolves either wink
