Here's some really good news to share today. A new drug as been trialled and is showing it's halted the progress of Alzheimers for up to 18 months with some patients. This drug, called LMTX, had failed previously as patients were using other dementia medication.
Dr Serge Gauthier, of McGill University, presented the results to the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Toronto. He said "This is the first time it has happened in our field that a drug reduces the rate of brain atrophy,”
I really hope we will now see this benefiting other patients with this terrible disease.

A real breakthrough there.
So instead of slowing the progress of alzheimers, this drug stops it's progress completely, temporarily?
According to the research the participants cognitive skills including memory and reasoning did not decrease at all over the 18months. To me it seemed like a green traffic light went to red for that period.
Only time will tell long term. I suspect it will need to be started at early onset.....and then we will come to the dreaded cost and allocated funding....

Not sure about any other side effects @Toby....though none were reported in link I provided.
Though when medical research is published it goes through other facilities to be tested again before allowed publication. I have no doubt facilities worldwide will be clamouring to get involved in this particular revolutionary
research...
