Hi guys,

Carrying on the recent conversations and recommendations around apps I want to hear your thoughts on news apps!

Currently I only use a couple of news paper apps and the BBC News app to keep up to date. Does anyone have any good recommendations for news apps? Or are there any specialist apps that you get news about a specific subject? Out of the news apps you use what would you say are the best features and what in your opinion could improve these apps?

Let me know in the comments below wink

The Guardian....Far less biased than the BBC and the sport is much better!

I've not tried the Guardian app. I usually read there stuff through Facebook which loads the article in the Facebook app but I'll have to give this a try.

All round news. I do read the BBC and it's the only tv I get to see here along with Al-Jeereza but anything political, I find it so biased.  Ask @perksie what he thinks of the BBC and their reporting of the Israel problems....

I use feedly myself which is a Rss reader. The app pulls news from multiple sources across a wide range of topics.

My most read feeds come from the Independant, The guardian, BBC,, Daily mail (I know I know), Truth Seekers and Wikileaks.

I've got a whole host of gaming and tech feeds in there too.

Its not too dissimilar to Flipboard which any long standing Samsung user will have spotted and maybe used in the past as it was pre installed for a long time.

Navigating is a straight forward swipe and tap style with options to navigate to the respective authors site to read the full article. It also supports saving for reading later as well as sharing to multiple sources such as Facebook and twitter.

I like what comes up on my mobile Microsoft Nokia Lumia 640 LTE, which is various sources, but I don't think you techy people would describe that as an app, sorry

I enjoy reading the i newspaper when in 'mine local hostelry'

@version7point0 That sounds like a brilliant way to get the news you want without having to trawl through all the other content. Are the RSS feeds easy to set up in the app?

@Anonymous I have something similar on my Galaxy S4. It pulls in breaking news and any events from the calender on my phone.

@Martin-O2 extremely easy. Swipe in from the left. Add content and it displays a selection of categories, after something specific and you can search for it, then click the "+" to add it to your feed.
