Hey guys,
When looking at any regular map of the world the relative size of countries and land masses are distorted due to a 3D world being represented on a 2D map. Countries will appear much larger then the are in reality as you move away from the equator.
In order to give you an accurate picture of how large countries actually are thetruesize.com have created a tool which show the correct size of countries. It's a fantastic tool and I'd encourage you to take a look when you have a few spare minutes.

Only goes to illustrate the futility of Brexit, look at the size of the UK by comparison to its neighbours...
Even France has so many territories that it is the country that touches the most timezones in the world (and if you thought that was Russia, think again!) .
