Re: unbearable connection

If you look at the latest Be status link above, they have found yet another reason! Something to do with a peering provider & a case has been raised.

I'm guessing that this is a multi-fault problem....they think they've cured it but another fault is lurking in the background....engineers' nightmare !

Re: unbearable connection

It's quite ridiculous, this problem has been going on almost a week. Seriously poor standards!

Getting close !
Update 16/02/2012 07:35
We have received some information from our peering provider that they have excluded some possible causes. This effectively brings the investigation closer to locating the source of the issue. Next update will be in 2 hours.

Re: unbearable connection

Getting close !

We've been there before.
At the end of today it will be 2 weeks.
I've only had a problem with the bbc website, nothing has changed for me over the past 2 weeks so I get the impression that their activities has only made things worse for more people.
Hope I'm wrong, but I get the feeling that they're not even close to a fix. :smileysad:

Looks like multiple faults (or perhaps errors), resolving one just brings another to the fore.
I wonder if it's the result of poor project management on the BE network improvements ?....or just simply bad luck ?
I guess the truth will never be announced.

My ping results to bbc.co.uk
Ping statistics for 212.58.241.131:
Packets: Sent = 83, Received = 66, Lost = 17 (20% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 23ms, Maximum = 107ms, Average = 28ms
Looks like it's getting worse for this time of day. :smileyindifferent:

According to nredwood :

The packet loss to BBC was confirmed to me last night as a separate issue and was told it would be investigated after the general packet loss issue had been confirmed as fixed

Re: unbearable connection

As far as I can tell it's fixed - just today. It is only a hour ago that I first had the chance to try but it seemed hopeful when I tried initially from the mobile using home wi-fi and just a few minutes ago on the pc. All the sites I have not been able to get to, I now can. I hope it stays!

Re: unbearable connection

It seemed to get much better for me at around 2-3pm Today with no noticeable issues however issues returned around 6pm for me so I don't hold out much hope.

From reading of the Be status page it looks like peering fault, hardware fault (possably then masking the known peering fault), then once the hardware fault fixed they discovered the peering fault was still there.
But its pure guesswork on my side. and I have not really ben effecxted by this issue myself. 1 site was kinda iffy for a day or two and it might have been affecting some facebook games randomly.
