cheers for that mate, i didnt know that! ![]()
i'm gonna try and use an extension lead to plug the router in downstairs to test it
Also i spoke to a local PC guy last night and he said to try a powerline (which i think is homeplugs?) but to connect my pc and xbox it'll cost around £105 (a lot of money to shell out) as I'll need 3, a separate one for the router, xbox and pc.

Make sure it's a decent spec.......either CW1308 or CAT5 and not one of those cheapies that DIY outlets sell.

I assumed a mains extension cable ![]()
You can get them cheaper:

A example not a recommendation.
You can connect a second router to the remote home plug, giving 3 ethernet ports and wireless to the remote location.
This show how to connect two Thomson routers together but the same principle applies to other makes.

Re-reading it, you might just be correct.......but if you're not then it's worth remembering !

Thank you to both of you! I did mean the mains power socket but i am thinking about extending the phone line to the conservatory so i can get the best signal ever ![]()
Tried the power extension in the hall (2 rooms away) and it connected to the xbox no problems.
For some reason after phoning o2 with the point of a better connection to the router next door with BT I was getting 4 bars on my windows connection display, seems that didnt last as it's now down to 2 bars.
Thanks for all your help with this!! ![]()
