My problem has been with O2 backroom guys for nearly 4 weeks now. Despite threats of contacting me with a solution no one has quite managed to do that on any of the occasions promised. Ah well, must be really difficult. I purchased a PlayBook and although it can see the outside world via the router OK, it's invisible on the network. Neat trick if that was what you were after, but I'm not. I've taken it and my laptop to my mates house and everything works as it should, I have even tried another router at home and that works fine too. So over to O2! It would appear that wifi devices are being prevented from communicating properly even when they are on the same sub net. For my own curiosity I telnetted in for a look - I can see what they've done (dozy gits springs to mind) but I'm minded by the fact that O2 don't pay me, in fact I pay them! So O2, what's keeping you from providing a solution?
If you can see what they have done wrong why not publish it here? I regularly use Remote Desktop to access a wireless connected PC on my network with no problems. I also transfer files using the standard Windows network settings. And yes, I am using the WB5.
I refrain from giving unpaid for advice to people who get paid a considerable amount of cash to get things right in the first place, especially when the last time that I pointed out a humongous "oops" they didn't even say thanks. O2 can take this particular one right on the chin. New tablet owners will be starting to phone up in droves regarding this. O2 have had the problem AND possible solutions for over a month. Their problem to solve - not mine, unless they want to pay for the consult!
