TG582n router problem ?

Over the last few days I've been seeing time outs loading web sites. Router lights are showing as all OK.

I've overcome this by "repairing" the wireless connection even though it is showing as connected and Excellent Strength (router is in the same room as the laptop).

Today I noticed the same problem so tried to access the router GUI but it timed out until I "repaired" the wireless connection.

So is it a router problem or could it be a wireless card problem ?  What else can I check to see what's going on ?

Re: TG582n router problem ?

Do you run Routerstats? I've noticed on some routers Routerstats can cause a slow death over a day or two to routers due to the continuous GUI logins, only cured by rebooting the router.

Re: TG582n router problem ?

I'm sure you've checked most thing's, have you check this:

In the PC's wireless connection properties > security tab.
Ensure "Encryption type" is AES and not TKIP on all devices.

Note:
From -- Customer Release Note - Main Track R8.4.3 Maintenance 2
http://www.technicolorbroadbandpartner.com/getfile.php?id=7446

When using WEP encryption or WPA-TKIP wireless security the throughput performance of the 802.11n wireless
interface is lower than when using no wireless security or WPA2.

Re: TG582n router problem ?

Yes I'm running the latest Routerstats v6.7g, I'll run without it for a while and see what happens.

As regards security for the TG582n it's described as :

Encryption : Use WPA-PSK encryption

WPA-PSK version : WPA+WPA2

Now I think about it, a couple of times Routerstats failed to record anything and it was because too many telnet sessions were running so it looks like RS may be the culprit.

Thanks for the pointers :smileywink:

Need to look in the PC settings for encryption type.

AES

Edit : Never had problems re. wireless so I forgot there were computer settings :smileyembarrassed:

I've disconned RS for the time being and will monitor if this makes a difference.
