Sending mail from secondary email address

Hi all, I have set up a secondary O2 email address as my user name which I chose when signing up with O2 was nonsensical. My secondary email addresss is in the format name.surname@o2.co.uk however when I set this up as the default mailbox in Outlook I cannot send messages as I get the response   "550 RCPT TO:<xxxxxl@xxxx.gov.uk> Relaying not allowed - please use SMTP AUTH" Can anyone suggest a solution please? Thanks, David

If I remember correctly you need to use authentication with your primary O2 user name and password, check the settings here:

http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=152,E=0000000005733593555,K=7726,Sxi=18,T=g...

Incoming mail server (It's sometimes called the POP or POP3 server)

Enter 'mail.o2.co.uk'

Outgoing mail server (It's sometimes called the SMTP server)

Enter 'smtp.o2.co.uk'

Where you have an option for 'Use Authentication' on the outgoing server:

Enter:

  • User Name: your full O2 email address e.g yourname@o2.co.uk

  • Password: the password you use to login to the O2 website or when you check your O2 Webmail.

User Name (Sometimes called the account login)

Enter your full o2.co.uk email address.
