Re: Profile Update

Many thanks for your help O2MACH2 ,i have another engineer coming tomorow morning as O2 are confident that it is still either a line or exchange fault ,they have escalated it with BT so time will tell ,it is now stable but sooooo slow ,also i dont understand the up sync being higher than the down sync speed .:smileyfrustrated:

the stats.

Re: Profile Update

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:12.4 / 11.1

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:6.7 / 8.7

These 2 items of data indicate why there is a problem.

The downstream Output Power should be up around 18 or 19dBm not 11dBm

The downstream SNRM should be around 6dB

The low downstream sync is the result of these 2 problems.

I still believe that with a 57.5dB attenuation, you might be better off on an ADSL2 only connection not ADSL2+

Re: Profile Update

I am not sure what i was on before the problem arose ,it would sync at a steady 3.2mbs but since then i have been on most settings i believe in an effort to get it working , i am still suspicious of the cable that is tangled up in the tree

Re: Profile Update

The second engineer has isolated the problem at last ,it is a fault in the cable from the cabinet to the pole with a sync of 3.5 mbs at the cabinet ,even though he tried his best ( in pouring rain ) to fix it he could only get a sync of 1.5 mbs which although half what it should it is at least useable ,the cable will need to be replaced by BT which should fix the probem completley ,i did point out that BT had been installing fibre optic cable in the same underground duct recently and the engineer said it is poss that the cable was damaged during this as other homes on the same postcode are also getting low speeds

Many thanks O2MACH2 for your help .

Re: Profile Update

At least you have found the fault, let us know how the fix goes.

The fault has been found but it seems ( According to O2 ) that BT have closed the case as they are satisfied that they did what they were asked and found the problem,i find this somewhat dubious but O2 level two tell me that at the moment nothing is in place to fix the problem, either from Bt or O2

Surely if O2 rent the line from Bt and it is faulty then they have a right to expect it to be repaired ,as do i as i pay for a service which at the moment i am not getting

the engineer who found the problem did say that it would be hard work to get BT to replace it as they try everything to get out of doing this if they possibly can ,i can only hope that O2 will put pressure on BT to fix the problem as at the moment i dont have a useable broadband connection but i am still being charged for it.
