Been with O2 for the past year, best ISP i've ever had.
Our upload and download speeds are pretty excellent because we are metres from the local exchange.
So as per title, any benefit to me calling up and requesting a change to 3db?
Here are my line stats after a reset around lunchtime today. This is a completely typical up/down speed and error rate, aka, great speed and no errors.
Uptime: 0 days, 0:20:07

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1.321 / 20.332

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,3 / 18,3
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 2,6 / 12,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7,3 / 6,3
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote): BDCM / BDCM
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): -
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 44
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
I've never had a connection drop out once in the past year. The purpose of any changes are to try and make gaming as good as possible. Iplayer, netflix, downloads are all perfect already.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

That's a very good line, I can see no reason why you can't change to a 3dB profile.
You're getting almost the limit for Adsl2+ so it would be interesting to see if you get any more.
It has a theoretical top speed of 24Mbps so go for it! ![]()

do you get any lag when playing games? just curious

Thank you perksie, I thought it might be worth a bash, we're literally one road away from the exchange and the house has zero extra wiring.
Hey Pidge, I've had zero lag all year in any games at all, but with the release of Black Ops 2 last November I started to suffer. I'm fairly certain it's more related to the games design than anything network related, my network is hardwired and my connection to the local exchange is, as you can see, excellent.
What game or games are you suffering with? If it's Blops2 as well, I would probably give up trying to find a fix, as I think the only fix will come by via a patch from the developers.

People would commit murder for a line like that.
Very jealous.![]()

Yeah we feel very lucky, BT had trouble giving us any kind of decent connection from the same exchange, but that is mostly down to stupidity rather than any technical problems.
Having said that, we get infinity availability from the 1st of March, going to be hard to resist that, though 4 times the speed for 3 times the money is the part that doesnt appeal.
Here's hoping O2 announce some variety of fttc plans.
Back on topic, do I call the 0800 230 0202 number, and if so who specifically am I talking to to request a profile change? (I would call now, but I am assuming 19:30 at night is a busy time, and I can call tomorrow daytime just as easily.

Yes that's the number I've never had much of a wait getting through.
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier.
As you say the question is is it worth it fibre, while my 5Mb connection is enough for what I need I'm not bothering and I have it available now.
I can run HD video and only use mainly one pc at a time so it does for me.

Thanks for the confirmation on the number, will give them a bell tomorrow afternoon. I need to renew my year contract too so might as well do that as well.
Re: connection. Exactly, all about what we need it for.
The biggest thing that will keep me away from infinity is BT's horrible customer service and lack of UK call centres though.
It's O2 having UK call centres that bought us over.

Don't forget to see if there are any discounts going before you sign up again! ![]()

Done. Any instability and I'll drop it back to the 6db profile.
