I called O2 today just to query whether i would qualify for the 6 months free if i simply upgraded from the basics to the all rounder ,i pretty much knew what the answer would be but thought it worth asking anyway ,although i was indeed told that the free months do not apply to upgrades i was also advised that if i called retentions and mentioned that i wanted to leave i would get a much better deal than the 6 months free ,whilst this may well be true i would not have expected to be told this by CS

CS are separate from retentions and don't get any bonuses, so they don't care if customers know how to screw down their margins, the genuine ones are much more interested in giving customers the best advice
