Re: Am I Getting The Right Speed According To My STATS?

Loss of framing really shouldn't be happening, and the downstream sync is a bit slow...
Are you using any extension cables / sockets ? Try plugging router directly into the master socket (or test socket, if you have one), and check stats again in a few hours.

Given your sync speed, unless you use torrents / P2P file sharing... you probably won't notice much difference on All Rounder package (£12.50, or £17.50 if you dont have an O2 mobile). If you've been a customer for 2 years or more, you can get 12 months half-price, so £6.25 or £8.75 / month.

Re: Am I Getting The Right Speed According To My STATS?

hey, no i'm not using any extension cable, but i do have dodgy ethernet cable which is a little damaged (i had to join some of the wires by hand) maybe that will explain the loss of framing?, i sometimes d/c time to time (from the computer to the router) and i have to join back the wires lol, i havent got around to buying a new one. Although the cable going from the router to the telephone line is fine, maybe a tad long it's like 10 meters?
i had a new socket fitted in by openreach 3 months ago and noted a slight improvement in my downstream, although the last month its kind of dropped, i use to sync around 7.3, now i am around 6.7

given my line attenuation should i not be getting an extra 2 to 3 mb more in the downtream?
maybe the test socket thing will work?

Re: Am I Getting The Right Speed According To My STATS?

Dodgy ethernet won't cause LOS/LOF, however a 10m DSL cable :robotindifferent: - sounds more like an RJ11 cable for a phone to me. Try with the supplied Grey DSL cable, if you've had a new socket recently then I'm sure that'll be fine, but never hurts to check in the test socket.
You should be syncing at around about the 10mb mark.
If the sync speed is higher with the correct cable / test socket... get your self a high quality (shielded) DSL cable. Cables intended for phones just aren't up to the job.
You might also want to try changing the filter if you've had the same one for a while :smileyhappy:

Re: Am I Getting The Right Speed According To My STATS?

I'm confused about this in your stats
DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A
On home premium that should read DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A.
Try a hardware reset of the router by poking a cocktail stick or an unfolded paperclip into the reset hole at the rear of the router for 5 seconds or so until the lights go out and repost your stats after that.

Hadn't noticed that, agreed.
That's bog-standard ADSL, have you had any problems in the past ? If reset doesn't switch this to 992.5 Could be you were put on the standard ADSL profile for testing and never switched back - however if that's the case, I think we'll see a much more unstable connection if you go back to ADSL2+.

Looks a bit better, time will tell if the LOS/LOF errors come back, but it's still on standard ADSL. I'd call O2 up and ask them to check your noise profile to make sure you're on ADSL2+.
Tried test socket ?

I found a shielded RJ11 cabled seems to have improved the downstream slightly stats below

Re: Am I Getting The Right Speed According To My STATS?

Still on 992.1, and this: Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 10 / 0 ain't good.
Try test socket, and if no change, call O2 and get your profile checked.
