I went for the Moto G in the end, because:
1. It was more comfortable to hold.
2. It was in black rather than white
3. More recent OS
4. The 50GB Google drive offer offsetting the limited onboard storage.
Early days but it seems to be a great phone!
cheers

Me again. 2 weeks in and I think
1. the Moto G is a great phone!
2. Pluses, great OS, no bloat, fast, no clutter, fantastic screen, cheap. "Does what you want it to".
3. Less good: audio is perfectly adequate but maybe not as good as Sony? Camera is not the best.
4. battery life is average at 1-2 days.
Some reviews refer to the limited storage but Drive integration is very good as is the 50GB free storage. I'm not wordy enough to do a full review, Android Authority's one on YouTube is well worth checking out
I give it 9 out of 10 at the price- Think I made the right choice, thanks for the advice.
cheers

Thanks for the update. It's good that you are happy with the phone and if it suits your needs all the better
