Just read about this via thinkbroadband.co.uk.
It's about time, as once again the UK is behind other countries when it comes to 4G.
Interesting that this small network trial of just 25 masts will have more capacity than O2's entire national 3G network!!! That just shows the backhaul capacity mobile networks are going to need to run 4G 😮

Been reading the article at the Register: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/11/14/o2_lte_trial/
Says that its not about data speed but more of data usage on the masts. Obviously not a roll-out but no doubt a lot of people will mistake that test for the start of 4G and thus the forum will be flooded with "when will o2 get 4G"

2g was going to be the thing to change our lives, then it was 3g, the answer to everything, now 4 g will make everything all right. Trouble is, the promises never come true. What we can be sure of is an increase in the price of data because all this new technology must be paid for. Just a pity that we never get a fully working, usable system before the next level is waved at us like the holy grail.
