This has been mentioned in another thread but deserves a section of its own I think. @MI5 and myself have noticed a changed to Contact Preferences. Initially I had opted out of Marketing info....today we noticed there is a new layout for the page and suddenly mine have been turned on...Advise everyone to check. Mine looks like this...(or did as I have now turned off everything except Priority) @Toby is currently checking when these changes took place..

My SIM was bought through eBay so there may be something in what PhoneDoc suggests but in reverse.

It's direct O2 devices/SIMs that are affected.

This is clearly O2's fault, and clearly O2's responsibility to offer an explanation as to what happened, and why it happened.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

@viridis Haha I think we have a difference of opinion between company rhetoric and constructive suggestions. That being said, this situation definitely isn't acceptable, and a situation which warrants some definitive answers.

I've 4 contracts taken out at different times over a 3 year period directly from O2, all in store and never over the phone or online. I use Tu, Priority, and the World Chat App, all of which I think are running the latest releases. I think I'm also registered with TPS. Maybe there's something in there that will help differentiate those who have been unknowingly opted in again, and those who have remained opted out.

Ofcom will not be interested but the ico will be as a breach of the dpa if proven that we the customers data that was protected by off has been modified without our consent.

i will investigate when home later

3 weeks ago, Cleoriff posted up an image showing where the settings are and they were off.
Now yet again o2 have "modernised" this section and the settings have reset.
Its fact.
Just like the other "modernisations" that broke other features.
Problem is..this feature is controlling customers private data.

The only difference for me is that I don't have world chat, but I doubt that's related?

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I use all the same apps. It matters not I think where you got the phone or sim from. The simple facts are that the page has been 'updated' and and settings that have been off for years have been altered with probably millions of customers being affected by the changes. This is totally unacceptable. I understand that some may have not been affected yet but that's not to say they won't be. Anyone whose preferences haven't been changed then that's good but it seems the majority on here certainly have been plagued with spam calls over the last 2-3 weeks. Diabolical and I will definitely be making complaints. Last thing I want is calls from these people when I move overseas as I have 6 months left on my contract. But too late, the damage has been done.

Maybe O2 will be happy to refund all your roaming charges for receiving these calls jonsie?
