Its not waterproof by the way its only really splash proof the covers are pound jobs and need 5 minutes to fit so you could buy in bulk the sockets are about £4 but that needs good soldering skills the boards are about a tenner and being sold in droves so its a bit like a well known car a few years ago that "lost" reverse gear but it was not a common problem but when you went into the dealers parts dept they could walk round the bins and pull the parts without having to think about looking them up.
Snag is you need the port sometimes to do data transfer that wireless Kies cant do.
So do you go wireless and then fix the beast but never use the port to charge it and therefore "abuse"it or just go wireless or cut your losses fix it and get rid?
