I've found it easy to set up and simple to use. Whether I'll continue to use it when it's chargeable is another matter...

Hi guys, a quick update on this to check: Do you understand that the O2 Protect app is the launcher app / dashboard and that you needed to then download 2 further apps to fully utilise the service: O2 Store & Share & O2 Guard (for the ‘Must-have’ and ‘Everything’ bundle)s?  If not, what would have made this more obvious?

Fancy writing a great device review or O2 forum guide? Send me a message!

Hey O2 Protect trialists,

Thank you for your participation in the beta trial, your feedback has proved invaluable to us as we improve the service before launching to our customers.

As you’ll know, we cease the trial on the 31st March and as a result of your feedback, we’ll be making some big changes to the service we’re going to offer to our customers:

  • We’re going to de-bundle the service, which means you’ll be able to choose the storage and/or security level which suits you best, as a standalone service
  • We’re going to remove the O2 Protect launcher app, which you told us wasn’t adding much value in its current form
  • We’re going to improve the branding on O2 Guard and make it clearer who the back end partner is for this security service

What happens next:

At launch, we’re going to launch the O2 Store & Share service first and launch the O2 Guard service later in the summer when we’ve made some changes to it.

The current services won’t continue to work as they have done, so please read on to find out what you need to do:

What do you need to do:

  • O2 Protect app will cease to work so please uninstall it
  • If you’re already on our Free bundle which contains 8gb of storage, there is no need for you to do anything.
  • If you’re on one of the higher bundles, we will move your storage down onto the Free bundle (we’ve checked, your stored items will fit into the 8gb capacity)
  • O2 guard will be withdrawn while we work on it. To uninstall on Android you need to remove device administrator before trying to uninstall.
  • To Remove Administrator setting for McAfee (O2 Guard)
    • Go to “Settings” and select “Security”
    • Select “Device administrators”
    • Un-tick “McAfee Security”
    • Then just uninstall McAfee
  • If it’s on your PC make sure you replace it with other protection as O2 Guard will no long get updates from the 31st March.

If you have any issues with the above, please contact O2ProtectSupport@telefonica.com

Thanks again for participating and feeding back, we really appreciate it.

Brad
