Hello,
I,m new to O2 and as I'm not at all technical if any one can tell me what the difference is between O2.mobile, blackberry.net and wap.O2?
We have allrounder blackberry so I was wondering what 330 kb would be on our bill, what does an average blackberry mobile email use in kb?
I dont find the bill at all clear as every thing is in kb so how can any one see what was surfed and downloaded on our mobile? There are quite big differences in kb so its confusing not knowing whats been used or having any way to check what we used on downloading, emailing and surfing.
Can any one explain these kb things with examples of what a download, surfing or emailing uses. roughly of course. Thanks

Blackberry.net is the one that all Blackberry's will use to access the internet. The others are used, mainly, in other types of phones. Generally you shouldn't see those on your bill unless an app has decided to use those access methods.
In short, the reason why there is a specific BB entry is that everything is routed through the RIM servers. That enables compression and of course, you get BBM as a benefit.
You won't get what was using the data except only the amount of data used at the time. A BB always consumes data so you will always get a small amount listed on the bill every few minutes. As you might have already seen, the large amounts of data in one particular period will be either download of an app or browsing a graphic intensive website. Email on the other hand is quite small and we're talking very small kilobytes.
Since you are on the all-rounder, you can be assured that you won't reach the 500MB per month as most normal users will be less than 100MB. So don't worry about it. Just avoid streaming video otherwise you'll find that the data allowance will be reached very quickly!

Thanks for the explanation, so the large amounts say 330 would be downloads I asume and the smaller ammounts emails for eg to blackberry mobile email.
Since I had the allrounder blackberry and got a new mob in September the bills now just show blackberry.net and hardly ever wap.02 etc.
I dont see whats been uesed every few minutes on the bill though, its one amount either once or twice a day varying from about 330 kb to 3kb.
Quite often it just shows 00.00 time on the bill so I asume this is some automatic summing up of what is used? On some days there is a specific time showing once or twice instead of the 00.00 or with it as well. I see now the total this month used up to now is 2,854 kb so it looks like quite a lot.

What it does every so often is go to your ISP email and check emails and that uses a tiny bit of data and of course, it may be less than a second!
If you have facebook or Twitter or any apps installed that has regular updates, it will also show up depending on how big the updates are. Within the settings of most apps you'll find a refresh time you can adjust. It does vary though.
But the 2854Kb is tiny really. Only comes to 2.85MB (divide by 1000!) so you're well within your allowance. I've only used around 40MB since the beginning of the month and thats doing apps and surfing. Best use I've done is 420MB which involved a lot of photos otherwise its well under 100MB a month.

Ok thanks, does it use any kb when the blackberry is connected to the pc for eg to syncronise adresses and update etc?
With a blackberry mobile email adress you can only get emails on the mobile,so I was wondering if there is a way of downloading them onto the lap top and if so would it be possible to type a reply on the lap top and gdownload it back on the blackberry?

No not for the pc connection but if you have it on then it will still use a bit as you are connected to the mobile network.
Never got my BB email address to work in that way so can't help you on that one. To be honest, I just avoid using it and stick to my own email addresses. You could always 'bcc' yourself.

Thanks its all much clearer now.
I dont actually have a blackberry mobile email address but was thinking of it. What does is look like eg kath@blackberry.net? I see when an email gets sent from my regular email it says sent from my blackberry device.

Yes, whatever you can choose will be your BB.net address. Within the setup option and then email settings, you can edit the "sent from my device" signature plus a few other options like bcc.

Ok thats good where do I make the email adress on the o2 site or on the blackberry site or on the mobile?
Do the blackberry email details like email adress and password stay on the 02 site for my future reference with the other info or are they saved on the blackbery site? It wont be the first time I've forget something like an email adress or password, pin etc. Thanks again.
