I've done my laptop, no problems at all and much better than win8 imho.

I've never been one for tech for tech's sake .. .. .. indeed I was op on a thread of that name ... ... ... & ... ... ... I'm of the school of: if it ain't broke don't fix it

There must be loadsa stuff I don't use on my laptop & existing Windows 7 Home Premium

Agreed jonsie ... ... ... I wouldn't wish to be 'out-phased' by eg Windows 10

Just thinking 'How long will Windows 7 be operating' ?

I am sticking with Windows 7 for as long as I can.....quite happy with it at the moment and no rush to upgrade to 10

We've just done our laptop as part of a clean out - it was restarting and heating up quite badly, but generally worked.

Seems to have done the trick (not noticed a restart/shutdown since anyway).

It does look very different. Not neccesarily bad, just different. Like all changes I think it will take a little getting used to...
