I was wondering what others used on their mobile telephone or indeed portable music player. For a while, I was using Sennheiser CX300 ear buds, then replaced them with CX880i which offered better sound however I tired of them.

To save a bit of money, I purchased a cheap pair of Sony headphones from every blue aliens favourite catalogue store. So recently I decided to go for a new pair of Shure In-ear headphones. The quality for the price is quite remarkable, as I can hear a lot detail although getting used to the fit can be awkward. At the moment I'm on a PC using a headphone amp to listen to music to audition them and warm up the drivers. Little Boots - Remedy sounds very clean, the separation between vocals and synthesizers is obvious even at lower volumes.

Before that my other options were AKG, Sennheiser or Grado SR60i although they may be a bit harder to drive on my smartphone. Anyway I tried to keep this jargon-free as possible.

What are your favourite headphones/in-ear phones?

What about Bose? Overpriced or high quality?

Some of their products are good but some very disappointing......

I've only tried the bose soundlink mini and I love it ... although a bit expensive.

Which ones are disappointing?

It all depends what you are hoping to achieve. The playback is only good as the source.

Fashion headphones spend more money on image and advertising. Audiophiles get a hard time although their pedantic choices are well rewarded (At least in their minds).

Bose, JBL and Sonos are worthy products alas you pay a pretty penny. Also you do have to use headphones & speakers to flex the drivers...like a pair of shoes need stretched and broken in.

If you are a casual listener anything at £50 should do the trick. For anything better stick with jbl, shure, grado, akg, bose, sony, phillips. Monster do make decent products just the dr. Dre beats have been cheapened and marked up with

Adverising costs and artist promotion costs. I can almost guarantee you no professional mixer will rely on beats for final mix decisions.

The Sonos Play is soo much better though for very similar money.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thank you guys for all the recommendations! For the moment I'm going to keep using my Skull Candy ones but will come back to this thread when I need a new ones (soon, because I always lose them)

I am in need of some ear buds / headphones / ear phones for my Xperia L1

I listen to audio books & radio

The fit of the actual thing is of great importance as the cheap ear buds I've tried previously ususally have been uncomfortable or fall out

I've looked at Google, Ebay, Amazon online & am wondering whether to go to the O2 shop in town ... or ... there are a few other 'cheap looking' phone accessory shops in town

I havn't much of a pretty £1 in my pocket, but don't want to spend it on rubbish

Thank you

I'm still on the lookout too. The bummer for me is not being able to try before you buy. So I'm stuck with Apple earpods.
